Activities - Summer 2006

from 4 to 6 pm

Join other English speakers - from the Berne International Club, the Berne English Speaking Club, Aussies, Kiwis, other colonials and excolonials from the swisscc mailing list, and many Swiss - all welcome!  Look for flags hanging from trees. (Bring your flag too). No registration necessary

Have a panache or an icecream, a plate of chips, or whatever, we and will talk and watch the bears floating down the river.  Some will go in for a swim, we may finish up at Marzili, the famous riverside swimming area of Berne.
 

* The meeting on 27 August will be at Eichholz, with BBQ organised by the International Club. bring your meat and drinks. The location is on the other side of the Aare about a half km upwards. It's reachable by walking from bus 29 or tram 9.

BBQ and swimming in Thun

Location: the island near Thun lakeside swimming area

Bring your own picnic, we will get the grill runing. Access to the picnic / BBQ area / lake is free, but it costs to enter the swimming pool area.

BBQ and waterskiing 
Sunday 20 August, 3-7 pm, Estavayer-le-lac

Bring your own picnic, we will get the grill going. Meet at the grill area. NO reservation necessary. If the weather is bad, call Graham on 031 829 3479 for news.
Auto: Take highway Berne-Thun. Exit at Thun Süd, drive towards Zentrum, then follow signs "Stadion/Strandbad". Go towards Gwatt/Spiez, pass the Hotel Holiday and park your car on the left in the lot reserved for Strandbad. Walk towards the lake, make a right turn towards tennis court. At tennis court, make a left over the bridge and there you will find the BBQ pits. Train ... Berne 1505, 1522, 1526 for a trip of 20 minutes. Bus ... a further trip of 6 minutes By car, autobahn Berne - Geneva (not via Fribourg), exit at Estaveyer, continue to the lakeside near the yachting and water-skiing installation. 
Train leaves Berne each hour +20 minutes, change at Fribourg, to arrive in Estavayer-le-Lac at +38. It could be a long hot walk from the station to the lake, though. Get our handy number and give us a call.
