The International Club of Berne was founded in 1991. It is a non-political organisation open to all men, women and their families, interested in meeting for social and cultural activities.

The aim of the International Club of Berne is to facilitate a better understanding of and integration into Switzerland. This is achieved through a variety of services and programs for our members, and through joint exploration of this country and its people.

We welcome people from all corners of the world.  Our common language is English, though among our members many different languages can be heard. The club currently (2003) has some 170 members (and their families) from over 40 countries. New members and newcomers to Berne are assured the warmest of welcomes.

A club meeting is held each month with a wide variety of guest speakers and presentations on diverse topics of interest. We hold weekday events and classes and family activities on weekends. Above all, we offer the opportunity to meet and make new friends.

Annual membership dues are only SFr. 35.- for singles, 45.- for a family.

A newsletter is mailed out regularly informing members of Club news, events and activities.  Our club address, contact names and telepone numbers are listed on the inside front cover.

We would be delighted to have you join us.  We are waiting to welcome you!

The nearly 200 members (in 2007) come from over 40 nations. Half are Swiss or binational, the next largest groups are from the U.K., U.S., Germany and France. There are members from most other countries in Europe and many countries in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Australasia.

Join the club!  Just send your (paper) mail address to Werner Dettwiler. You will soon receive a newsletter and a membership form. We also ask you to fill out a form to tell us your interests, so we can plan events which appeal to you!
