Building a family tree

This is based on an exercise from Hot Line discussed in the workshop of Peach Richmond.

Clues

Sally's mother is called Kate.
Sheila and Alec have got two sons.
Kate is Edward's wife.
Harry and Edith have got three grandsons: Stephen, David and Vince .
Vince and Sue's parents are John and Mary.
Peter is Claire's uncle.
Sally isn't wearing a tie like David but earrings.

Vocabulary

This is a lousy list. It is of no help to anyone. Stupid question.
 
Look at these words. Do you know any of them?

Better would be a layout such as these for vertical and horizontal lines, if you are graphically oriented.  Better would be to place the relationships in the context of the diagram or of the student's own family.

A chant would also be a simple method to ensure learning.  And since family relationships are universal, this is one time when I feel that a translations would not be out of place.  There could even be cultural enrichment, as some languages contain different words for older and younger siblings and for the different grades of cousins. Or  for instance mother-in-law - Schwiegermutter - belle-mére - suocera.  You can compare translations in different languages - you can find this from the logos dictionary.
